Vice Presidential Debate: What I’d like to hear….

No Comments Written by admin on September 28, 2008 in Joe Biden for President, politics.

For those of you old enough to remember, back in the 1988 Vice Presidential debates, the late Senator Lloyd Bensen, running mate of Michael Dukakis, stole the show with this great zinger after Senator Dan Quayle, George Bush’s running mate, compared himself to President John Kennedy:

“Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy: I knew Jack Kennedy; Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you’re no Jack Kennedy.

When Senator Joseph Biden finally gets to debate Gov. Sarah Palin in the only Vice Presidential debate of the season, I hope to hear the following:

Governor, I served with Dan Quayle: I know Dan Quayle; Dan Quayle is a friend of mine. Governor, you’re no Dan Quayle.

Hear me now!  If those words are uttered by Joe Biden during the debate, I will go out and buy a huge public announcement system, ala Jake & Elwood Blues in The Blues Brothers, playing the sound bite on an endless loop until election day.

Please, please, Joe.  Make it happen.

Presidential Debate #1: Fact Checking

No Comments Written by admin on September 27, 2008 in News.

So the first presidential debate is over, both sides are claiming victory, and John McCain is still a jerk.  Did you see his performance?  McCain was like an old man with dementia, angry because you’re questioning his ability to recall even the simplest facts.
When it came to foreign policy, any time Obama tried to make a point, McCain would start to go on about Obama stating that, as President, he’d meet with the leaders of the “Axis of Evil” without preconditions.  Granted, it was one of Obama’s greatest mistakes during the debates leading up to primary elections, but it’s oft misrepresented meaning by McCain and his mouthpieces, has been thoroughly explained and, in my opinion, satisfactorily diffused in the minds of the American public.
What do I know about the minds of the American public?  Nothing.  But my guess is as good as anybody else’s.

I could tell without much fact-checking that McCain’s lies were bigger than Obama’s less frequent incorrect assertions, but factcheck.org has done the legwork so you don’t have to take my word for it, you can take theirs.

So head on over to factcheck.org’s fact-checking of the first debate and see the truth.

Why Does It Take The Daily Show to Unmask Political Hypocrisy?

Lightweight Anderson Cooper? Nope, he missed it. Douchebag Keith Olberman (why is he still on the air?)? Nope, he totally missed it. Any of the raging Fox asshole commentators? They missed it, too.

All of the talking head, teleprompter reading, bag-of-wind, know-nothing TV personalities and their overworked interns missed the story. Listen to how Jon Stewart and his team of well-informed comedy writers blow the lid off of the talking head, bag-of-wind, know-nothing, political scabs who have absolutely no shame and, if there is any cosmic justice, will soon be run over by a long train of buses.

Enjoy.

Joe Biden as Obama’s Running Mate!

Boo-yah, baby! Finally, the world will know what they’re missing out on - Joe Biden as President. Foolish, foolish Americans, you missed your chance. Joe Biden is THE most qualified person to be President of the United States of America and you missed the boat.

Now is the time to get back on the boat and find out who Joe Biden is and why he is the best bet to help crush John McCain this November.

Foreign policy? McCain better avoid this topic altogether. Was McCain invited by the President of The President of The Democratic Republic of Georgia to come to his country to consult when Russia invaded this August? Nope. Joe Biden was.

Take a look for yourself over at Joe Biden’s web site. Trust me when I say that our country and the world can breathe easier knowing Joe Biden will be front and center in the Obama administration.

Biden’s selection as Vice Presidential running mate also confirms one thing - Barack Obama is one smart cookie.

Here is my latest sketch, based on the topic: Undead Version of a Classic Faerie Tale Character….

Jeff Corwin Visits LucasFilm & GLEF

Today I had the pleasure of chatting with and listening to a brief presentation by conservationist, biologist & TV personality Jeff Corwin.
Jeff, who was actually at the George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF) for a business meeting, was nice enough to give a 1-hour discussion about how he got to where he is, his passion about environmental and species conservation, and about his upcoming series called “100 Heartbeats”, a show about endangered species that have only 100 or fewer animals left in the wild.
The guy is all over the place. Trying to save the world is a busy job.
A good place to find information on Jeff’s career is at Wikipedia but you should probably just head on over to a few of the sites he would want you to check out:
The Rare Species Conservatory Foundation
Native Species Conservation Program of Hawaii (Jeff calls Hawaii a good example of recent species annihilation)
US Fish & Wildlife Service Endangered Species Program
World Wildlife Fund
Wildlife Conservation Society
